One Brand, One Source, One Commitment
To provide our customers with greater simplicity, efficiency and responsiveness, we have combined our three major brands (Appalachian Door, Ameri-Door, and Algoma Hardwoods) under the master brand name Algoma Hardwoods.
The new Algoma Hardwoods brand will encompass all the products and services formerly provided by our individual brands, with the same great value, and with an even greater commitment to customer service. Our unified name and operating structure will allow for simpler, more efficient processing and delivery of the quality products, services, information and distribution support youve come to expect from Algoma Hardwoods.

History
Six Decades of Leadership, A Century of Tradition
With over a century of wood working tradition and leadership, Algoma Hardwoods is an experienced manufacturer with a reputation for skill, knowledge and the highest quality wood products. We can trace our roots back to 1892 with the founding of Ahnapee Veneer and Seating which produced fine wood furniture for more than 50 years.
In 1947, Algoma emerged as a leader in fire door construction with its introduction of the first wood-faced mineral-core fire door. Since then, Algoma Hardwoods has remained a leader in the manufacture of rated fire doors while expanding its offerings to include a full range of special purpose architectural doors.
In 1994, Algoma introduced the industry to factory-owned and operated Distribution Centers, reducing the time between order and delivery. Strategically located throughout the country, and now known as Algoma Express (originally Ameri-Door), these Distribution Centers offer the same high quality as our Algoma factory. Distribution Centers offer architectural doors in a wide variety of styles and species - in stock and ready for shipment. Commercial wood doors are also available from the Distribution Centers. Special services include machining for hardware and lite openings, prefinishing, and resizing, as well as labeled fire doors.
In 1997 Algoma began manufacturing and marketing its own Stile and Rail doors, truly the "fine furniture" segment of the door industry. Investment in plant, equipment and, most importantly, skilled labor, has allowed Algoma to become a major player in this "up market" segment. The success of Stile and Rail, coupled with market demand for a less expensive, stile and rail "aesthetic," led Algoma to introduce, in 2001, its Artisan Door series. The following year saw the successful testing of a ninety minute Artisan Door, allowing the series to go from non-rated to ninety minute, neutral or positive pressure. The Artisan SF series was introduced in 2002, offering a significant savings alternative to traditional forty five to ninety minute stile and rail doors.
In 2007, Algoma Hardwoods introduced a fire-rated Stile and Rail door series, running the gamut from 45 through 90 minutes; neutral or positive pressure; and all at 1-3/4".
