Reports to: Shop Supervisor

Position Overview: The Finisher is primarily responsible for performing all finishing and staining duties assigned to him or her by the Shop Supervisor or DC Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Maintain thorough and current knowledge of all Ameri-Door, Inc.’s finishes and stains. Maintain a library of all Ameri-Door, Inc. standard stain finishes and clear finishes.

2. Apply finishes in a professional manner in accordance with company guidelines and specifications.

3. Develop a system of preparing control samples which are to be matched against the actual finished door.

4. Prepare samples for customers on an as needed basis in accordance with company guidelines.

5. Ensure accuracy on all finishing orders by developing a system that will provide cross-referencing of orders, stains and samples.

6. Use proper preparation techniques before finishing the door to maintain a quality pre-finish.

7. Be able to read and interpret written finishing work orders. Perform operation as required by these work orders. Inform Shop Supervisor of any noted discrepancies or questionable items.

8. Complete all necessary paperwork in an accurate and timely manner, which may be required.

9. Maintain a safe, clean workstation, including assuring area is properly ventilated and proper safety equipment is worn.

10. Maintain a working knowledge of all quality control guidelines, which are assigned to the finishing department. Notify Shop Supervisor immediately of doors not meeting quality guidelines in order to eliminate the shipment of poor quality doors.


Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Minimum of two years of finishing experience. This position requires familiarity with wood finishing and staining.

This position requires the ability to read and accurately interpret various documents (i.e. machining sheets, work orders and templates).
