Job Title:
PLC/Electrical Technician
Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor
Minimum Qualifications, Tools and Equipment:
This job is responsible for maintaining and repairing electrical systems in the plant. Completion of apprenticeship plus additional journeyman experience is required; on the job training is required to meet and maintain production and quality standards. A variety of hand and powered tools are used together with shop math, including trigonometry, formulas, multiplication and division of decimals and whole numbers, read and interpret manuals, wiring diagrams and drawings and use digital multi-testers, clamp-on amp meters. Knowledge of national and local electrical codes required as well as PLC ladder logic and programming.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Receives work assignment from foreman, work order, blue print or sketch, determines parts requirements and specifications and coordinates ordering through purchasing.
Perform routine preventative maintenance.
Troubleshoots and diagnoses problem machines and fixtures, referring to shop manuals, blueprints and schematics.
Installs, repairs and tests electrical fixtures and apparatus.
Installs telephone and computer network cable and terminals; maintain and diagnose problems with computers and computer-controlled equipment.
a. PLC Programming.
b. Read and draw electrical prints.
c. Plan and build electrical panels.
d. Proper sizing of wire and circuits to code.
e. Programming servo drives and motors.
f. Working with IT department on installation of new equipment.
Diagnoses and trouble shoots HVAC systems.
May operate forklift and high lift.
Data entry into menu-driven computer maintenance monitoring program. Downloads data from meters into computer program for diagnostics.
